The Solo Traveler’s Guide to Capturing Your Own Content
How do solo travelers manage to capture such breathtaking shots of themselves? Do they have a secret traveling photographer they aren't telling us about? Spoiler alert, they don't.
For me, solo travel is one of my favorite ways to explore. And one thing about me is—I’m GOING to get the content.
“How do you get such good content when traveling solo?!”
I’m frequently asked this question on social media. Whether you're capturing content on your next solo trip, planning an at-home photoshoot, a photography novice, or if you simply don't trust your friend's um...not so photo-friendly eye, these tools can help you upgrade your photography game.
Use A Tripod with Bluetooth Remote
Gone are the days of setting your self timer on your camera and running into position (hoping you make it before the countdown ends). A tripod and Bluetooth remote makes it easier to stay in place when you've found the right light or angle. Simply attach your smartphone to your tripod, connect the remote to your phone's Bluetooth and voila! Self portrait magic. This is the solo traveler's bread and butter. You can find a few tripod and remote options.
Portable Charger
When it comes to capturing content while traveling, your phone is everything! It's your camera, your editing studio, and in some cases, a prop. You don't want to be on a beautiful mountain at sunset when your phone sends you a notification that reads "You have 10% battery remaining." Browse a few lightweight and long lasting portable chargers here.
USB Camera Adapter
I was introduced to this a few months ago and what a complete game changer! I use this to transfer files from my camera to my iphone. No more need for apps or wifi. You can literally transfer files in the middle of the desert. Insert the memory card and adapter into your phone and the images will import right into your phone! I have three of these, just in case I ever lose one. It’s my holy grail. I also have a version that works for camera to computer transfer! Grab yours here.
