Review: Balans Soho Society, Kensington

Out Of Office Magazine visits Balans Soho Society in Kensington, which served the most delicious rib eye steak we have tried yet

Walking into the newly revamped Balans Soho Society in Kensington, we were instantly taken away by the cosy atmosphere. A lot of effort and thought has been put into the interior of this small, yet striking place and the tree in the centre of the longest table is a unique touch.

The service was brilliant and the staff are clearly well-informed and enthusiastic about the variety of food on offer. For us, the highlights on the menu were the fried chicken starter and the halloumi and mash main, which was served with olives and tomatoes. Last, but certainly not least was the rib eye steak, cooked to perfection at medium/rare and served with peppercorn sauce (happily on request, as it was not on the menu). It melted in the mouth like butter.

What? Balans Soho Society in Kensington is a delightful restaurant; part of a small chain that has grown from humble beginnings.

Why choose Balans? It’s quirky, cosy and the food and cocktails are delicious. They source their meat locally from Borough Market too.
